How to care for pearls
Cultured pearls are relatively soft compared to other gems and precious metals. It is important to take special care to ensure that they remain bright and beautiful for years to come.
Pearls are porous, so cosmetics, perfumes, and hairspray can gradually deteriorate them.
Therefore, it would be best to put on the pearls after applying makeup, perfume, and hairspray. A good rule of thumb for caring for pearls is that they be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.
It's also a good idea to clean your pearls with a soft cloth after use, and from time to time you can moisten it with water and do a more thorough cleaning. Avoid the use of abrasive soaps as they can damage the shine of the pearls.
Wear your pearls often, pearls absorb the skin's natural oils and this keeps them hydrated and shiny, however try not to wear them while playing sports as sweat is acidic and can deteriorate their shine over time.
Always keep your pearls separate from other hard jewelry, such as metals and other gemstones, to prevent scratches. Ideally, keep them in their box, in a cloth bag or in a separate jewelry box.
